HSE Manager

Reports to: Site Manager

Lead the Verona site’s health, safety and environmental strategy – driving continual improvement in operational risk management, developing a mature safety culture, and ensuring legal compliance through effective leadership, coaching and implementation of kp standards. Working in close partnership with the site management team, you’ll make HSE integral to how the site operates and be the trusted advisor who influences operational and strategic decisions.

• Lead the site’s health and safety strategy, aligned to corporate standards and regulation, and build a mature safety culture – coaching leaders, challenging unsafe behaviours and embedding accountability for risk at every level.
• Ensure compliance with Italian HSE legislation, company and industry standards (e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 14001, BRCGS), keeping management systems effective and embedded, and leading inspections, audits and assurance activities.
• Lead risk identification, assessment and control, and run high-quality incident investigations that find systemic causes and prevent recurrence.
• Develop competency and training programmes – induction, refresher and risk-specific – and create an environment where employees actively identify hazards and challenge unsafe conditions.
• Oversee emergency preparedness (fire, evacuation, first aid, crisis) and drive environmental compliance and sustainability improvements (waste, recycling, emissions, energy).
• Analyse leading and lagging indicators (TRIR, incidents, near-misses, audits), spot trends, advise leadership, and manage HSE budgets, contractor safety and related procurement.

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years’ HSE experience in manufacturing or industrial environments, preferably packaging or related industries.
• Strong knowledge of Italian health, safety and environmental legislation (e.g. D.Lgs. 81/2008, D. Min. 2 settembre 2021, UE 2023/1230) and its practical application in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations and safety training.

Preferred

• Professional certifications (NEBOSH, IOSH, IEMA, UNI 11720).
• Experience in a regulated environment such as food, pharmaceutical or consumer packaging manufacturing.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.

What We Offer

• Salary: A salary of €45,000 – €55,000, depending on experience
