We are currently seeking a Quality Technician to play a pivotal role in our St. Helens team. Your contributions will be crucial in supporting the manufacturing team and ensuring that our products meet customer requirements and exceed expectations.

 

Based at our site in St Helens, this position is responsible for the approval all new raw materials in the UK, and ensuring compliance to EU framework reg. 1935/2004, ensuring materials sourced process to KPI without reducing production efficiencies. To drive quality standards through a reduction of NOCs and improvement projects within the business, using Voice of the Customer feedback and the DMAIC approach to problem solving. Maintaining and facilitating all relevant Customer-facing documentation.

 

Main areas of responsibility

 

  • Work with cells to coach and drive development of effective resolution to product/service defects using DMAIC methodology
  • Auditing the business operations to ensure continuing compliance with systems and applicable legislation

  • Ensure Customer Technical Specifications are maintained and available
  • Maintain and update information within the Self-Assessment Response folder to enable completion of Customer Specific Requests / Questionnaires
  • Review Customer Requirements to ensure appropriate quality attribute testing is in place for all new products
  • Develop and maintain a comparison samples library with samples available for use in manufacturing
  • Project work as identified from within the HSHEQ Department seeking opportunities to improve standards, providing support and training to achieve as required to fully resolve issues
  • Maintaining and facilitating Customer-facing and other relevant documentation within SharePoint
  • Provide appropriate advice and assistance in quality related matters to internal users and external customers on best practice techniques
  • Act as the quality representative in, or lead, cross functional teams when required
  • Auditing the business operations to ensure continuing compliance with systems and applicable legislation
  • Provide cover within the department when required
  • Develop the UK Environmental management system to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and Customer requirements is maintained at all times
  • Work with the Quality Compliance Manager to develop an Integrated Management System

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Quality experience in ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and BRC systems
  • Understanding of EC Food Contact / GMP regulations with regard plastic food packaging
  • Knowledge and experience of Lean Six Sigma methodologies to a minimum of green belt level
  • An understanding of the use of Quality tools and change management is required
  • Qualified internal auditor with practical experience
  • Degree, or equivalent, in Quality or manufacturing related subject
  • HSHE awareness to site standards
  • A good understanding of MS Excel, Word, access and Minitab
