Assistant Extrusion Operator II

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include those found in the Utility Person description and the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Assists the Extruder Operator in setting up the Extrusion Machine and helps to assure a smooth start for each new order.

 

  • Gives specific attention to examining the quality of the sheet product regularly to assure a consistent result.

 

  • Handles any feed problems that may develop due to material or machinery defects.

 

  • Assists the Extrusion Utility Person with assuring that all paperwork is maintained and complete.

 

  • May assist the Extruder Operator in training the Utility Person.

 

  • May operate the Extrusion Machine in the absence of the Extruder Operator.

 

  • Inspects and tests all raw materials on incoming trucks before being loaded into the silos.

 

  • Assures all daily routine PM’s are performed during system clean ups.

 

  • Grinds and bags rework accurately, records the weight and properly tags the bags for storage.

 

  • Follows good safety and housekeeping practices in their assigned work area.

Education and/or Experience:                                               

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills:                                                          

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

        Mathematical Skills:                                                    

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability:                                                       

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills:                                                          

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
