Summary:  

Assists in the proper and productive set-up and operation of a Calender Machine by performing the following duties.                                                

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include those found in the Calender Wind-Up Person description and the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Assists the Calender Operator in setting up the Calender Machine and helps to assure a smooth start of each new job.

 

  • Gives specific attention to the Kneader Room operation and makes necessary adjustments to the Kneader Room equipment to ensure a smooth flow of material into the Calender.

 

  • Helps the Calender Operator to visually inspect the product during the run to assure consistent quality.

 

  • Assists the Calender Operator in training the Wind-Up Person or new Utility Person.

 

  • Operates the Calender Machine in the absence of the Operator.

 

  • Prepares the calender for all start-ups and order changes.

 

  • Communicates with the Line Mixer on all production concerns to assure good coordination between stations.

 

  • Performs all quality inspections and documentation in accordance with department procedures.

 

  • Assures all production documentation is up to date, accurate, complete and neatly recorded.

 

  • Makes minor mechanical repairs to the calender machine and all components.

 

  • Properly classifies all rework for future use.

 

  • Follows good safety and housekeeping practices in their assigned work area.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:                                               

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills:                                                          

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills:                                                   

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability:                                                       

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills:                                                          

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software.
