Job Title: General Ledger Accountant
Reporting to: General Ledger Team Leader
Organisation: kp Business Services, Porto #LI-HYBRID

Purpose of the Job

Processing General Ledger (GL) activities in the Shared Service Centre (SSC).

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Perform period-end activities such as booking journal entries, currency revaluation, depreciation, accruals, and provisions;
• Perform inventory accounting and post adjustments;
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and maintain accounts;
• Ensure compliance with all internal and external accounting standards, laws and regulations, policies, and procedures;
• Ensure proper documentation of work procedures is maintained and kept up to date, namely in accordance with the Standard Process Model;
• Perform account reviews and provide explanations for variances;
• Provide support related to annual and interim audits in close cooperation with other departments and auditors;
• Participate in continuous improvement projects.

Knowledge

• Desirable knowledge of IFRS;
• Knowledge of accounting standards in one of the following GAAPs: Portugal, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Netherlands, Switzerland, UK, or USA;
• Desirable knowledge of Internal Controls.

Functional / Technical Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar field;
• Professional working proficiency in English; additional languages are considered a plus;
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP and JD Edwards are considered a plus), Basware, and MS Office;
• Ability to work in an international and global environment.

Soft Skills

• Ability to work effectively with people from all backgrounds, promoting inclusion and respect for diversity;
• Ability to build trust and strong partnerships;
• Strong teamwork skills;
• Ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential information appropriately.

Experience

• Experience in Finance and Accounting or equivalent is considered a plus;
