Senior Process Engineering Manager

 

Location: Pontivy, France – On site

Reports to: Operations Director

Purpose of the Role

Reporting to the Flexibles Operations Director, you will lead the site’s Process Engineering, Asset Care and Investment strategy, managing a team of around 15.

This is a critical technical leadership role, responsible for operational excellence and process stability, deep technical mastery in extrusion and packaging transformation, and continuous improvement in performance, cost and quality. You will define and execute the site’s technical and industrial strategy while developing teams and strengthening technical capability across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and manage the CapEx roadmap and site investment strategy.
  • Lead major industrial projects – new equipment, layout optimisation and automation – delivering to budget, timeline and ROI, through to successful commissioning and ramp-up.
  • Support daily operations with a strong focus on safety, quality, delivery and cost performance.
  • Ensure process stability and product consistency through deep expertise in extrusion technologies.
  • Drive technical problem-solving and root cause analysis to deliver sustainable performance improvements.
  • Manage site real estate, energy supply, fire protection and site safety, including related audits and continuous improvement.
  • Lead, coach and develop multidisciplinary teams, building technical expertise and autonomy across the site.
  • Promote high standards of health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ) and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • As a member of the site Steering Committee, work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, R&D and HR, and contribute to the overall industrial strategy and competitiveness of the site.

Profile & Experience

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Chemical, Process or Plastics Engineering preferred).
  • Around 20 years’ experience in industrial manufacturing, ideally in extrusion or similar processes, including automation development.
  • Proven experience leading large teams in a complex industrial environment.
  • Strong expertise in process engineering and industrial technologies.
  • Experience in project management, CapEx deployment and industrial transformation.
  • Solid understanding of Lean and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Financial acumen – P&L, cost structure and investment analysis.
  • Fluent in English, and proficient in ERP systems (SAP) and MS Office.
