Shipper

Summary:  

Stores finished product in the Shipping Area by “truck load” groupings and loads finished product onto trucks for delivery to customers by performing the following duties.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operates forklift and other material handling equipment in a safe, efficient manner which ensures damage-free material handling. 
• Performs proper preventative maintenance on the material handling equipment including forklifts.
• Stores and prepares product for shipment in a manner which complies with good safety practices and ensures that the product will not be damaged. 
• Stages the product storage to allow for fast efficient loading.
• Loads product onto trucks for shipment to the customer.  Ensures that trucks are properly chocked and stable. 
• Checks floor of truck prior to entering with a load to ensure that the floor will support the weight. 
• Loads in accordance with the Bill of Lading, visually inspecting the load first to ensure that we are not shipping defective product. 
• Loads the truck in a “first on” last out” method. 
• Ensures that the load is tight and will not shift during transit. 
• Ensures that loads is exactly in accordance with Bill of Lading.
• Unload incoming material and equipment following all procedures to ensure a safe, efficient, and damage free unloading function.
• Maintains proper safety and housekeeping practices at all times.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:                                                        

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
