Shipper
Summary:
Stores finished product in the Shipping Area by “truck load” grouping and safely loads finished product onto trucks for delivery to customers. WORK SCHEDULE: THURSDAY TO MONDAY, 8 am to 4:30 pm
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Align with kp’s strategic compass and core behaviors: Focus, Accountability, Respect, and Urgency.
- Lead by example - promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Follow good safety and housekeeping practices in assigned work areas and conducts cGMP walkthroughs in the Plant as requested.
- Promote continuous improvement in all detailed duties.
- Operates forklift and other material handling equipment in a safe, efficient manner that ensures damage-free material handling. Performs proper preventative maintenance on the material handling equipment including forklifts.
- Stores and prepares product for shipment in a manner that complies with good safety practices and ensures that the product will not be damaged. Stages the product storage to allow for fast efficient loading.
- Loads product onto trucks for shipment to the customer. Ensures that trucks are properly chocked and has a stand under nose. Checks floor of truck prior to entering with a load to ensure that the floor will support the weight.
- Loads in accordance with the Bill of Lading, visually inspecting the load first to ensure that we are not shipping defective product. Loads the truck in a “first on - last out” method. Ensures that the load is tight and will not shift during transit. Ensures that load is exactly in accordance with Bill of Lading.
- Unloads incoming material and equipment following all procedures to ensure a safe, efficient, and damage free unloading function.
- Performs duties of Receiving Clerk in his/her absence.
- Ensures that all trucks are loaded with proper balance of loads over the rear and front axles in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Ensures that each truck scheduled for multiple deliveries is loaded so that the first delivery is loaded last.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
