Summary:

Support the F&L Manager by coordinating and directing the daily, tactical activities of the F&L Department with a focus on safety, quality, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).  Provide the technical support and guidance needed to ensure that quality products are safely manufactured, On Time and In Full (OTIF).

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead by example - promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive safety improvements through risk identification and elimination, as well as full compliance with daily risk assessment completion, leveraging support from other groups as needed.
  • Complete required PASA audits for improving Behavior Based Safety, and drive team behaviors for continued safety awareness and practices.
  • Work with Process Engineers to ensure that processes are well defined, capability established and that all employees are adequately trained.
  • Instill and lead a safety and quality based culture through the manufacturing process.
  • Conduct daily process discussions with employees to review/discuss safety, quality, production, and other pertinent issues.
  • Communicate with team members and incoming crews daily on safety requirements, quality issues, changes in schedule, changes in processes, mechanical problems, and any other issues concerning the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Organize and manage the daily manufacturing functions of the assigned area adhering to production schedules and ensuring that potential problems or issues per production order are addressed in pre-planning sessions.
  • Ensure the cost effectiveness of the production process by controlling use of raw materials and strict adherence to rework procedures in order to reduce waste.
  • Identify opportunities for Kaizen events that will deliver quantifiable and sustainable results.
  • Operate Coater/F&L Machines/fork truck/material handling and Compounding as needed; provide working coverage for scheduled and unscheduled staff absences.
  • Align with kp’s strategic compass and core behaviors:  Focus, Accountability, Respect, and Urgency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:                                                

High School Diploma or equivalency; Associate’s Degree preferred; five to eight years related experience and/or training with one to two years of supervisory/leadership experience in a plastics/polymer manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must have basic understanding of MS Office products, SAP, and BDE.

 

Pay Range for position:  $30 - $36 an hour, depending upon experience
