Summary:  

 

The Mixing Supervisor will supervise and coordinate the daily job tasks of employees in the Mixing department ensuring that all mixing employees follow standard operating procedures, operate per established standard line conditions, and work in a safe manner at all times.  In addition, the Mixing Supervisor will develop a cross-functional workforce, standardize best practices, challenge and optimize Daily Management Skills, Problem Solving Techniques and Continuous Improvement Activities. 

                                                    

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:   

 

  • Lead by example - promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all mixing employees follow all safety procedures and work in a safe manner at all times.
  • Drive safety improvements through risk identification and elimination, as well as full compliance with daily risk assessment completion, leveraging support from other groups as needed.
  • Complete required PASA audits for improving Behavior Based Safety, and drive team behaviors for continued safety awareness and practices.
  • Develop and implement standard work, SOPs, work instructions, and procedures for the mixing department; update as needed.
  • Establish and drive a culture of Lean and 5S practices.
  • Submit work orders to ensure equipment is properly maintained and PM30s are completed per schedule.
  • Work with Process Engineers to ensure that processes are well defined and capability established.
  • Ensure all mixing employees follow established standard operating procedures and line conditions to eliminate bad drums / batches / mix as delivered to the calender assets.
  • Challenge and optimize Daily Management Skills, Problem Solving Techniques and Continuous Improvement Activities.
  • Supervise and coordinate the daily job tasks of employees in the Mixing department. 
  • Develop cross-functional workforce and ensure that all employees are properly trained.
  • Empower and hold direct reports accountable for HSSE, Quality, 5S, and productivity.
  • Resolve employee conflicts through coaching and accountability.
  • Manage team performance through training, coaching, motivation, and mentoring. 
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Partner with Site HR Manager to ensure that recruitment, training, development, disciplinary issues, and employee relations are managed at a tangible level to drive improved performance.
  • Maintain inventory control and ensure raw materials are properly labeled within mixing.
  • Maintain monthly and annual color pigment inventory.
  • Manage and execute to NVI goals.
  • Execute the strategic vision for mixing department and ensure alignment with the Plant’s operational and financial goals. 
  • Align with kp’s strategic compass and core behaviors:  Focus, Accountability, Respect, and Urgency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:                                                      

Supervises employees in the mixing department.   Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:                                                     

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or equivalent; or three to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must have a basic understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Office.

 

Skills:                                                       

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
