Manufacturing Manager

 

 

Summary

Lead the overall manufacturing responsibilities per the assigned shift within budget and output targets to meet company objectives and customer requirements.  This position has full ownership of ensuring a safe, quality focused and operationally driven work shift that delivers company Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).  Likewise, this role requires a leader that is responsible for developing an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible team that ensures that HSSE, Quality, Productivity, OTIF, and CI expectations are met/exceeded.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead by Example - Promote a culture of Accountability, Integrity, Continuous Improvement, Safety, HSE, and Quality.
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of operational best practices that lend to the manufacturing vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures of the site.
  • Implement and manage continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and driving changes in training, working practices and processes.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage the production of the required daily/weekly/monthly targets in line with customer specifications, meeting quality and delivery expectations, and minimizing costs where possible.
  • Drive process improvements on Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by appropriate data analysis.
  • Manage/lead and motivate team, ensuring adequate staffing levels.  Partner with HR to ensure that recruitment, training, development, disciplinary issues, etc are managed at a tangible level to drive improved performance.
  • Develop, implement and manage KPIs for each area of responsibility.
  • Drives health, safety, and environmental improvements through manufacturing processes by working with the HSSE department and proactively addressing near misses.
  • Instill and lead a Quality based culture through the manufacturing process.
  • Review production and operating reports to resolve operational /maintenance problems.  Partner with the maintenance team to ensure that predictive/autonomous maintenance is at the forefront of the process. 
  • As part of the leadership team, share ideas and improve operational performance by collaborating across shifts, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:                   

Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) and six to eight years leadership experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment preferably within the plastics industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office/SAP/BDE.
