The Machine Setter plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient and self-sufficient operation of the manufacturing cell. This role is critical in supporting equipment reliability, operational performance and changeover activities.

Working closely with the Operational Team Leader (OTL), the Machine Setter is responsible for first-line maintenance, basic repairs, fault identification, machine setting, production changeovers and process control. The role requires a good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems to support equipment performance, minimise downtime and maintain production output within the Extrusion Department.

Key Responsibilities:

1. HSHE awareness ensuring a zero accident mentality
2. Adherence to quality standards
3. Carry out first line maintenance to the agreed plan
4. Tooling, setting, product changeovers to plan
5. Manufacturing performance to plan on a daily basis including resolution of issues
6. Process control and continuous improvement
7. Process documentation
8. Facilitating the training/mentoring of colleagues
9. Team cover on other duties e.g. Machine Operative / Packing
10. Problem solving within the cell
11. Material movement and control

Skills and Experience:

• Comprehensive Equipment, Process and Quality training will be given
• Ability to assess risk and work safely.
• Level 2 Mechanical or Electrical NVQ (or equivalent qualification) is essential.
• Demonstrable understanding of mechanical and/or electrical systems and equipment.
• Ability to carry out basic repairs, fault finding and first-line maintenance activities safely and effectively.
• Ability to follow written company procedures.
• Reliable timekeeping and attendance.
• Ability to work as part of a team & good communication skills
• Positive attitude with a desire to develop and progress.
